VHSMAG (V): Your recently released part felt like the very definition of putting your whole heart and soul into something. How do you personally view that part as a piece of work?

Gabriel Summers (G): Yeah definitely tried my hardest but I feel like I always do. This part was done way quicker so it was stressful.

V: When making a part that level, how did you maintain your mental and physical condition?

G: I just tried to skate as much as possible.

V: Which spot or trick did you feel you absolutely had to get?

G: Definitely the gap kickflip 50. I tried that so many times and flew back to Australia twice for it. Process is just to stay keen for it and know it will be worth it in the end.

V: Your skating means constantly facing injuries and fear. Where does the “switch” come from that lets you keep pushing?

G: I just really enjoy it and I have been doing it for a long time so I know what's gonna be worth it or not.

V: Was there a scene in the video that felt the most real to you, or a moment that made you reflect when you watched it back?

G: Honestly the whole thing meant a lot. I thought I was blowing it the whole time so it was nice to see that people liked it and Tao did the best job.

V: You got on Thames. What did the decision to leave Zero mean to you personally?

G: I just ended a change and things over there had run its course.

V: What made you decide to join Thames, and what changed within you through that transition?

G: I think Blondey is very creative and funny and I get along with him so it was very easy.

V: Are there things you want to explore or projects you want to bring to life at Thames moving forward?

G: Just wanna help build a team that we can be proud of and make a video and go on cool trips.

V: You were in Japan for the OKWR Tour. What have you enjoyed during your stay?

G: Yeah I love Japan but I wish I ate more sushi and got to skate more.

V: What impressions have you gotten from skating spots in Japan and the local scene?

G: It's very hard to skate there especially in a big group but the scene there is very strong. So many amazing skateboarders from there, it's exciting to see.

V: Are there any video projects you’re planning to take on next?

G: Always working on another part!

V: Now that you’re in your thirties, how do you want to approach skating moving forward?

G: Yeah I mean I try to look after myself better but I think the secret is to just skate all the time, but as for my skating just keep doing what I feel is fun.

V: Lastly, what keeps you going?

G: I love this shit.
